Bus Roster
The Bus Roster page in Schools-On-I-Net allows schools to manage their bussing operations.

I. Bus Types:
This is the default tab in the Manage Bus Information section, this tab allows you to create new bus type, edit or delete existing bus types.
II. Buses: Adding a bus
Using this page, you can add a regular bus with a bus number, seats, and route etc. However, there are other means of transportation for students, such as Drop off & Pickup, Walking to school, etc. To accommodate all possibilities of students’ transportation, there are two selections on this page.
To add a regular bus, use the Bus option. To add another means of transportation use the Other option.
To add a new bus:
1. Click on the Buses tab.
2. Select the default Company.
3. Enter the bus number in the Bus number text box.
4. Select Districts that the bus will be associated with.
5. If required change total number of seats in the seats text box.
6. Select a driver in driver drop down. The field is optional but assigning a driver can be useful if you need to contact him for some emergency as his cell number will be readily available with the bus information.
7. Select the bus types by checking off the check boxes in the select column.
8. Click on Save button to save bus information.
You can add more buses by following steps 2 to 8.
The option for adding Other transportation:
Transportation modes such as Pickup, Walk to school, etc. can be added using the Other option of Adding a Bus.
III. Buses: Delete
You can delete a bus if no students are assigned to it. In case a bus is discontinued and must be deleted, please perform one of these two steps:
In order to delete a bus, students must be removed from the bus. To remove students from a bus, please go to Bus List\Remove Students tab.
Or
Transfer the students from the bus to another bus which is assigned to the same route and which is available. To transfer students, please follow Edit/View Buses.
Add students to existing buses by following Assign/Remove students by Bus number tab.
To Delete an existing Bus:
Click on Buses tab
Select the bus by checking off the box in the Select column.
OR
Select Check All link to delete all buses.
- Click on Delete button. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.
- Click on OK button to delete the selected buses.OR

Click on Cancel button to cancel the delete action.

If you click on the OK button and the selected bus is has students assigned to it, you will not be able to delete that bus.

Click on Ok button, page will take you to the previous page without deleting the bus information.Click on Reset button. It will set default values.
IV. Buses: Edit/View
This option can be used to:

Assign/Remove Districts to/from an bus

Assign a bus type to a bus

Remove a bus type from a bus

To Edit Bus Information:
Assign/Remove Districts to/from a bus

Click on the Buses tab.

Click Edit/View link next to the bus of interest. On this page, you can assign or remove districts to a bus. Currently there is no check between the district and buses. In the future, there will be a cross check between students from a particular district and the buses assigned to that district. If there are students on a bus serving a particular district, we will not allow that district to be removed from that bus.

Click on Save button. It will update the districts assigned to a bus.

Click on Reset button. It will set default values.

Click on Back button to go back to the bus information search page.
Buses – Edit/View – Assign a bus type to a bus
You can assign bus types to an existing bus using the Edit/View option.
- Click on the Buses tab.
- Select the desired bus type by checking off the check box in the Select column.
- Click on Update. The bus type will be assigned to the selected bus. A message Record updated successfully will appear.
The page will be in Add mode and will allow you to add New buses.
Remove a bus type from a bus
There are two scenarios:
- When no students are assigned to a bus type. A bus type can be removed easily from an existing bus, if there are no students on that bus.
- When students are assigned to a bus type. If a bus is to be discontinued from a route, then students on that bus must be taken care of before that bus type can be removed. For example, if number 1 bus is to be discontinued from its M-Th PM run, then students must be removed from that bus or transferred to another existing bus or a new bus
NOTE: You will not be able try to remove a bus with students assigned. - Action to be taken before a bus type can be removed:
Remove students from the bus by going to Bus List/Remove Student tab.
Or
Assign students to another bus by using the Assign/Remove Students by Bus Number tab. Then removing them from the source bus. Go to Buses tab or Assign Bus to Route tab and remove the bus type.
V. Buses: Home
A bus belongs to a district. To add a bus in the system, you must assign it to a district. If your school does not have districts, you can assign busses to the default district which is created at the time of implementation of Bus Rosters.
- This tab allows you to search a bus, enter new bus number, edit or delete existing buses.
- This page shows if a bus is assigned to a route, if the route of the bus is shown in the Route column.
- If it is blank, it means the route is not assigned to any route.You can print multiple Bus Lists from this page.
- The driver’s cell phone for each bus type is shown on this page in case you need to get in touch with a driver.
- The numbers below the bus type (M-Th and Friday) shows the number of student’s assigned to that bus type.
VI. Buses:
To Check the Students List in a Bus:
You can list all the buses by clicking on the Go button, or narrow the search by entering the District and Route.
- Select the check box in the Select column next to the bus that the student belongs to.
OR - Select Check All link to select all buses to check the student belongs to that bus.
- Click on Bus Lists button.
VII. Buses: Search
You can search a bus by entering the bus number in the bus number field.
- To view all the buses, leave the bus number field blank and click on Go.
- To Search Bus Information:
1. Select the Company or leave the default of ALL.
2. Select District or leave the default of ALL.
3. Enter the bus number in the bus number field. Click on Go.
4. To view all the buses, leave the bus number text box blank and click on Go button.
5. If the matching results are not found then page will display a message “Record not found”.
VIII. Drivers:
From the Master Tables tab, click on the Drivers radio button. This page allows you to enter driver information, edit existing driver information and delete driver information in a bus company.
IX. Drivers: Add A New Driver:
- From the Master Table, click on the Drivers radio button.
- Click Add Driver button
- Select company to which you want to add a driver.
- Enter the name and address information for the driver.
- Enter zip code and click on the Search City link to select the city, which will display following Search City window.
Select the City in the city list box and click on Select button, the selected city will appear in the city text box.
OR
- If the City name which you are looking for is not present in the City list box, then click on the Add City button, which will display following window to add new city for the zip code you have entered.
- Select County name in the county drop down in which you want to add new city.
- Enter the City name which you want to add.
- Click on Save button. Which will close the add new city window add newly added City will get appeared in the City text box.
- Enter all other Driver information on the page.
- Click on Save button. Page will display you the messages “Record saved successfully.“,
OR
- Click on Reset button, It will reset all values to its default value(s) without saving the Driver information
OR
- Click on Back button to return back to the previous page.
X. Drivers: View Driver Information:
- Click View link from the list to view the driver information.
- Click Close button to close the driver information page.
XI. Drivers: Edit Driver Information:
- From the Master Table, click on the Drivers radio button.
- Click Edit link from the list to edit the driver information
- Change the required driver information.
- If you want to update the zip code, enter the new zip code for the driver and click on the Search City link to select the city, which will display following Search City window.
Select the City in the city list box and click on Select button, the selected city will appear in the city text box.
OR
- If the City name which you are looking for is not present in the City list box, then click on the Add City button, which will display following window to add new city for the zip code you have entered.
- Select County name in the county drop down in which you want to add new city.
- Enter the City name which you want to add.
- Click on Save button. Which will close the add new city window add newly added City will get appeared in the City text box.
- Click on Update button. Page will display you the messages “Record updated successfully.
OR
- Click on Reset button, which will reset all the values to its default value(s) without updating the Driver information.
XIII. Drivers:
To Search Driver Information:
- Select Company in which you want to search driver in company dropdown.
- Enter driver last name and click on Go button to search a driver.
- Page will display list of the driver matching to your search criteria in the list
OR
- If the matching results are not found then page will display the message “Record not found”.
OR
- Click on Reset button, It will reset all values to its default value(s) and display the default search criteria.
